Il 3 maggio si celebra la giornata mondiale della libertà di stampa. Il World Press Freedom Day è stato istituito nel 1993, durante l’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite, a seguito di un memorandum del 1991 approvato durante la ventiseiesima sessione della Conferenza Generale dell’UNESCO.

In ogni angolo del mondo ci sono giornalisti minacciati, picchiati, trascinati in tribunale per costringerli a ritrattare, rapiti, uccisi. Nel solo 2012 i professionisti dell’informazione asssassinati sono stati 68.
Con la giornata di oggi si ha l’opportunità di informare i cittadini sulle ripetute violazioni della libertà di stampa: in decine di paesi,.
